It is possible to sublimate on normal crocs or any croc material such as sandals using a Cricut!
Supplies needed
- Crocs blank
- Heat resistant tape
- Mini press
- Towel
- Sublimation printable paper
- Butcher paper
First, find a design! You can choose individual designs to cut into pieces and place them randomly on the surface or one design to put on the entire front of the crocs. For either option, size the surface you want to sublimate on. And be sure to mirror the image and duplicate the design to press onto a pair of crocs.
Print the image with a sublimation printer and sublimation paper. Glue the image onto the crocodile with heat resistant tape. Tape it very well so that it does not move. It is important that you tape the image, otherwise we will have ghosting and the design will be ruined.
To press the design, put something inside the crocs, such as a towel, or an old t-shirt to keep the surface as sturdy as possible and also to protect your fingers from getting burned. Because the crocs has an irregular shape, it is easier to sublimate the designs with the cricut easy press mini.
Place the cricut mini press on the hottes, and using butcher paper, press for 45 to 50 seconds, with strong pressure. Simply hold the press in one place and wait, and then move it to another place for 45 to 50 seconds as well.
In this step it is important to be careful because crocs material can definitely melt.
To remove the tape and backing from the paper, let the design cool down. As a recommendation if you are going to press a complete design on the front, tape the edge of the crocs and all the parts that you don’t want to sublimate that are close to the surface with heat resistant tape. This way you will get perfect edges.
