This is a quick and easy tutorial, where you will learn how to make your own rhinestone template, which you can then cut with your cutting machine, such as cricut, silhouette cameo or more; Additional you can download a free file of mardi gras which was made with this method, so you can see how it works.
Do you need to install and open the free software inkscape
1. Trace the image you want to convert into a rhinestone template, or draw your own image.
2. Select the image and clic on the OBJECT Menu/Lower To Botton.
3. Draw a circle and select the options Path/Object to patch, depending on the size of rhinestone you want to use, will be the size of the circle:
- 6ss: 0.102 inches
- 10ss: 0.130 inches
- 16ss: 0.160 inches
- 20ss: 0.210 inches
7. Clic in Apply, then you can ungroup and move or delete any circle; after select the design by color (Edit/select same/fill color) then GROUP and clic in menu Patch/ Combine.
8. It is important that you write the measurement of the design in inkscape, because you will need to resize the image to this measurement in cricut design space.
9. Save your design as SVG and open it in cricut design space or save it as .DXF and open it in silhouette studio Basic.
NOTE: if you select all your rhinestone template then, you can see below, how many rhinestone you will need for the design.
