- Cricut cutting machine

- White glue
First, design the card or get the design of a lip balm money holder HERE. Measure the width of the lip balm pouch and size the design according to where it will be attached. To create the design with awesome fonts go to Dafont.com, there are tons of free ones.
Here’s a tip for resizing a design and keeping it in proportion. Make sure the image is locked, to do this click on the image and go to the top right corner of the image and click on that lock. then grab the bottom corner and start resizing with no problem.
For this project it is necessary to use the print then cut feature of the Cricut machines to make the project faster and easier. To do this, it is important to calibrate the machine to obtain a solid cut. Also, remember that to use this feature, it is necessary to select all the pieces and click on the flatten button to print the entire design and only cut the outer edge.
Tips for high quality printing
Once the design is finished, click on “make it” to send it to print. Here’s a tip to have a high quality print! First, click continue, then “send to printer” and then click on “system dialog”. In the print settings leave bleed on; this is to bleed the outside color a little so that when cutting if the calibration is not 100% perfect, the design will not have any white and will look perfect.
After that, select the printer and click on “Preferences”. Here change the print quality to “high”. Next, select the type of paper you are using, “premium presentation matte” will work with the 65 pounds cardstock. Finally, click on “more options” and make sure the “high speed” option is unchecked. This is the part that will give the highest quality print. After this the design is ready to print.
As a recommendation use recollections 65 pound brand cardstock on this project and use a white version of it to print the design. The Cricut cutting machine and the printer can handle it. The machine and printer can handle it well. Also, it is not a fibrous cardstock, so it will not stick to the mat. The machine will cut well and cleanly with no jagged edges.
Cutting and assembling
To cut the cardstock, select the material. The “cardstock for intricate cuts” will work with this. Also as a recommendation, leave the default pressure.
Load the printed cardstock square to the corner of the mat. Be careful not to curl the paper. Then load the mat and send it to cut. While cutting, start rolling the bill from the bottom, and be sure not to do it too tight. To make it look better, position it so that the dollar amount is on the outside. Finally, place the bill inside the lip balm bag.
To avoid curling the cardstock when removing it from the cutting mat, just lift it up with the mat facing down and pull it out. Finally, glue the lip balm bag to the cardstock. If it already comes with an adhesive don’t use glue, but if it doesn’t, white school glue will work. Add a bit of glue to the edge only. Make sure you don’t put it on the inside so the bill doesn’t get stuck.
Keep in mind that the person has to be able to get it out of there; so don’t get it too sticky on the cardboard. Make sure your fingers are clean to stick the piece on the cardboard. This is so as to not leave any residue on the outside of the piece. To glue the lip balm bag to the cardstock be careful. Place the cardboard vertically, and position the piece parallel to where it is going.
Then make a quick move to position it correctly, and lower it down for a second so it sticks. This money holder made from a lip balm pouch is a creative way to give a gift. Let me know your comments below!
