Bow tutorial with Cricut & FREE SVG

This bow tutorial is very cute for little girls, and best of all you can make it yourself with the cutting machine using the FREE SVG or Studio3 file included.

This project is also very practical because you can use it as a hair bow; or you can use it to decorate other projects such as bag toppers, rectangle display boxes, or even a pillow box doily, just let your imagination run wild!

For this tutorial cut the pattern, for this, you have to choose the color and the parts of the pieces that are going to be at the top or at the bottom of the bow.

To cut the SVG on your Cricut using the leather as the material to make the bows what you have to do is put it face down on the mat; so you need the blade to cut the backing of the fabric and not the glitter. Press it so it adheres firmly to the mat, and secure it with some tape; this because it has glitter on the other side and that’s why it won’t adhere well at all. 

To sum make sure of having a clean or even a new Cricut blade in your machine; because to be sure it’s going to cut all the way through this material.

Assembling the bow

Now we are ready to start assembling, take the largest piece first, and flip it over. Put glue on the middle of the back. Then bring the outer pieces towards the center. Hold them in place until they are completely cool, put a little firm pressure on it.

Using hot glue is better because it cools quickly.

Now place the bottom piece face up, put some glue in the center and stack the ribbons. You can glue two of them making sure that one is bigger than the other; to do this glue the bigger one first.

Once it cools, turn it over and put a little glue on the stripe. Take a hair clip, open it, and put the stripe inside to stick it to the clip. Then bend the stripe in the opposite direction, so that the glitter part of the paper shows through. 

Omit the step of gluing the hair clip if you want to use the bow to decorate other projects, which is a lovely idea, you can make rectangular display boxes or toppers for bags and add this nice detail! Finally, put some glue in the center of the bow, and pull the line tightly.
