Impressive way to customize projects using color-changing vinyl and a Cricut. It doesn’t just change once, it changes, again and again, every time you put temperature on them.

Here are two different types, one that changes with heat and one that changes with cold. Use them for different projects, add them to mugs or cups! In this case the red one will change with heat; and the white one will change with cold. The color chaging vinyl will change at different rates and then, when the beverage reaches room temperature, it will return to the original color.

Type of cups to use with the color changing vinyl

There are lots of different types of mugs and tumblers. The ones that really work for projects with this vinyl are the normal glass cups; with which it is possible to feel the temperature from the outside. There are semi-insulated glasses, with them it is possible to feel the temperature slightly on the outside; so the vinyl will change, but not vibrantly.

The insulated glasses are not a good choice, because when putting iced drinks in them or hot drinks in them, you can’t really feel a temperature change on the outside; so putting the vinyl on the outside of them doesn’t work.

Think about this when choosing surfaces for projects with color change vinyl.

To make a project with this, cut a design into the vinyl and weed it as we do with regular vinyl. Lay it face-up on the mat and it is possible to use any Cricut machine on the vinyl setting. If the design has thick pieces, do a test cut, so depending on the condition of the blade, you might have to cut it twice or cut it in something like a glitter vinyl setting.
