Photo album key chain with Cricut tutorial

Make a photo album key chain. This is a wonderful gift for our family and friends. Who doesn’t love photos?, and what better than to carry them with you wherever you go! This is very elegant and will look great for keys, or even bags! This is a perfect idea to keep our loved ones close.

Supplies needed

• Faux leather
• 1.5×1.2 in picture
• Snaps
• Snaps press pliers
• Clear acetate sheet
• Leather glue
• Permanenet vinyl

Making the album key chain

Firstly, cut out the photo album keychain design with a cutting machine. Get the SVG file HERE. Feel free to cut it out in any color of preference, but remember it has to be faux leather. It is recommended to use a strong grip cutting mat (the purple Cricut mat will work).

Now it’s time to assemble. First, we’re going to glue the pieces that will make the picture frame. Take the back of that group of pieces and place the picture on top. Put some leather glue on the edge of the backing, without touching the picture. Place the acetate sheet over it, and glue it well. Finally put over the edge of the acetate sheet a little glue, and stick the front piece onto it. 

After that, start assembling the large piece. You will notice that it has two small slots in the center. Take the leather line, and insert one end of it first into the picture frame. Then, put each end into the appropriate slot.  

Final touches

Get the snaps and the snaps press pliers. Therefore on the ends of the leather line piece, make some holes, to insert the snaps.

On one of the ends of it insert the post first (the one with the little tube), then place the socket (the one with the little hole) inside the tube that stands out. Next, take the pointed tool and place the leather on the smooth part of the metal circle, and hit it with a hammer.

After that, in the other tip hole insert another post. Then insert the stud (the small piece that has a kind of spike to fit it). Take the concave tool, and turn the metal circle, facing up the side that has a hole in it. Hit the concave tool with a hammer. As a result, it’ll be easy to put the photo key chain wherever you want, just opening and closing it. Finally, follow the same process to put the snaps at the top and bottom.

In addition you can also cut out a text or a silhouette in permanent vinyl and stick it to the key chain, to take this photo album key chain to the next level! This project is super easy to do, and the result is very nice, let me know your comments below!
